Matthew Shudtz is a law and policy research professional with the Institute of Government’s
Infrastructure and Community Resilience Team. Much of his work supports the Defense
Community Resilience Program. Shudtz was previously a research professional at the
UGA College of Engineering’s Institute for Resilient Infrastructure Systems, where
he supported an interdisciplinary team advancing the practice of finding nature-based
solutions to promote climate resilience. He has extensive experience in legal research
and policy advocacy, having spent nearly 15 years working at a Washington, D.C.-based
nonprofit, the Center for Progressive Reform, where he was an analyst and, later,
executive director.
