Conference addresses infrastructure gaps at Fort Benning and surrounding area
The University of Georgia Carl Vinson Institute of Government will help communities surrounding the military installation Fort Benning address emergency preparedness at a conference this summer.
The Disaster Resilience Across the Chattahoochee Valley 2025 Conference will be held July 15-16, 2025, at the Columbus Convention and Trade Center in Columbus, Georgia.
The Georgia Alabama Partnership for Sustainability, in partnership with Columbus Emergency Management & Homeland Security, the University of Georgia Carl Vinson Institute of Government, Fort Benning and surrounding River Valley Region communities, will host the 2025 Disaster Resilience Across the Chattahoochee Valley Conference.
The conference will help the Chattahoochee Valley prepare for gaps in key infrastructure services before, during and after a disaster. Such services could include loss of power, water, utilities and other energy shortages.
Speakers and panelists from the Southeast will share their expertise in state and local governance on mutual aid agreements, incident command and insurance. Sessions will also cover energy and water system restoration, wastewater management, response coordination, food and water distribution, communication, and manmade threats such as cybersecurity, drones, active shooters and terrorism.
The conference is open to the public and will especially benefit local, state and federal government elected officials and staff, emergency management personnel, first responders, public safety personnel, law enforcement, utilities and community partners.
More information about the conference agenda, lodging options and registration is available online.
