Breanna Matheson, a program coordinator with the UGA Carl Vinson Institute of Government, has received the Classic City Host award from Visit Athens, the official tourism marketing organization for Athens-Clarke County.

Matheson was presented with the award at the recent Visit Athens Annual Meeting. The award recognizes a local individual committed to bringing conventions, meetings or events to Athens-Clarke County that generate meaningful economic impact.

“Matheson plays a vital role in bringing large-scale conferences and leadership events to Athens, generating significant economic impact for the community,” Visit Athens said in a statement. “Her work coordinating programs for the Georgia Association of Tax Officials, Georgia Association of Voter Registration and Election Officials and other statewide organizations continues to strengthen Athens’ position as a premier meetings destination.”
