The Grow Back Project has officially launched at thegrowbackproject.org.

Grow Back is a University of Georgia-led reforestation effort launched after Hurricane Helene devastated the Augusta region's tree canopy. The Carl Vinson Institute of Government developed the Grow Back Project creative vision, including logo and branding, and played an integral role in developing the website as well as the backend technology supporting it.

The website helps Augusta residents identify the best trees to plant as replacements for those lost in the storm. It features a robust database of trees selected by horticultural and forestry experts at UGA along with planting and care guidance.

By entering their zip code, users are able to find trees best suited to their area, learn about how to plant and maintain such trees, and gain information about community support efforts.

The UGA Grow Back Project is a multidisciplinary initiative involving departments across the university, including Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication, Archway Partnership, Carl Vinson Institute of Government, State Botanical Garden of Georgia, Terry College of Business, Warnell School of Forestry, and Natural Resources and Cooperative Extension. External partners include The Community Foundation for the Central Savannah River Area, Georgia Power Company, and Dominion Energy.
