The University of Georgia Carl Vinson Institute of Government has launched a Community Planning Certificate.

The new certificate program will strengthen the knowledge and skills of local planning staff, appointed officials and elected leaders across Georgia.

Designed to support local planning staff and appointed officials in building a strong working foundation in planning, zoning and public engagement, this certificate will help local governments strengthen planning and zoning practices so communities can grow with purpose and resilience.

Courses are designed for appointed board and commission members, local government staff, and elected officials, and emphasize clear communication, sound process, and context-sensitive solutions.

Participants also complete a Local Planning Solutions capstone project that applies what they’ve learned to a real issue in their community. For more information, visit the Institute’s Community Planning Program online.
