Nearly 100 government officials recognized as Certified Public Managers at UGA
Nearly 100 government professionals recently graduated from the Certified Public Manager program led by the University of Georgia Carl Vinson Institute of Government.
The graduation was celebrated during the Certified Public Manager Program Conference in
Athens.
The Certified Public Manager program is a nationally accredited professional development
opportunity that helps public employees become more productive and better prepared to serve
citizens.
This year’s conference speakers presented sessions on leadership, navigating public service values and organizational culture, among other topics. The three-day conference culminated in agraduation ceremony, where participants reflected on their experiences and skills developed through the certification program.
“This program taught us how to be better listeners, collaborators and leaders,” said graduate
Chris Avery, senior digital communications specialist for Fulton County.
The Certified Public Manager program is delivered each year through 300 contact hours covering seven core competencies. The Institute of Government’s training includes face-to-face classroom sessions, a service-learning project, a conference and a capstone project. Graduates earn the nationally recognized Certified Public Manager credential.
